The primary difference between traditional networking and NetWeaving lies in their respective mindsets.

In traditional networking, people often engage with a single-minded focus, asking questions like:

  • Can this person help me?
  • Is this person a prospect for me?
  • Does this person have something I need?

There is nothing inherently wrong with this approach; it’s natural to consider these questions.

On the other hand, NetWeaving promotes a broader perspective. During any interaction – whether face-to-face, over the phone, or online,  NetWeavers listen with a second pair of “ears” and are tuned into conversations with a second set of  “antennae”   This mindset involves asking different questions such as:

  • Who do I know who would benefit from meeting this person?
  • Could this person provide information or resources to someone else I know?
  • Has this person impressed me so much that I should get to know them better, and if they continue to impress me, I should first find a way to help, and then invite them to become part of my Trusted Resource Network?

NetWeaving focuses on creating and fostering mutually beneficial connections and building a network of trusted resources, going beyond the self-centered goals of traditional networking.
