Lesson Overview

Golden Rule and Pay-it-Forward

NetWeaving is best described as a Golden Rule approach to networking. As a NetWeaver, the primary motivation is to assist others, adhering to the principle: “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” This philosophy emphasizes creating meaningful and trusted relationships by acting as a connector of others and by providing information and resources for others, without expecting anything in return.
What Goes Around, Does Come Back Around

NetWeaving is also recognized as a Pay-It-Forward form of networking. This concept is reflected in the two core mottos of NetWeaving: “Good things happen to those who make good things happen” and “When you open the door for someone else, you never know who you will meet as a result.”
NetWeavers firmly believe in the law of reciprocity. They operate with a conviction that their positive actions will eventually return something to them in one form or another, often just from the satisfaction you feel when you have helped someone else. And while their actions are not purely altruistic, we like to say that they are motivated by enlightened self-interest.
Connector & Resource Provider

NetWeavers maintain that the most effective way to cultivate meaningful relationships is by being a connector of others, as well as a resource provider for others, without any conditions attached. The foundation of NetWeaving lies in a fundamental humanitarian principle: once someone helps you, you should seek out opportunities to ‘pay it forward’ and help someone else.
